fireworks on the lake

July 6, 2013

Every year some rich guy in a nearby town has a big party with a huge firework display which you can see on the lake. This was the first year that we took the boys. They normally go to bed early (like 6:30 pm early) so we made sure they took a nice nap that afternoon so they would be prepared to stay up late. After dinner we headed out on the boat. Ryder just sat with Grandpa the whole time and didn't say a word.

We got to the spot and watched the sun set.

It was getting darker and more boats appeared.

Mason would not stop talking. "When do the fireworks start? Is it time yet? Are they starting soon?" After they started it was changed to, "Are they done? When are they over? Can we go home now? Is it over yet?"

Pool fun

July 6, 2013

These boys are so lucky to have to many great pools to swim in! We had dinner over at Uncle Jim & Uncle Gary's house before going out on the boat for the fireworks.

tubing

July 6, 2013

We've been trying to take the boat out more this summer. I don't think we went out at all last year! The boys have a blast (Piper not so much). We let them try out the tube for the first time and they had a blast. We were barely moving and they were actually asking to go faster!

The big reveal

July 3, 2013

Sooooooo..... Chris has been wanting to get Mason a dirt bike since he could walk. I kept on pushing him back later and we finally decided that once he could ride a two wheel bike (without training wheels) and would listen to direction, he could get one. Chris saved all of his change which became the dirt bike fund. The boys would often find coins and into the dirt bike fund it went. A couple months ago Mason took off on his two wheel bike. He was good. Really good. And fast! He was also getting much better at listening (although he doesn't listen very well to "don't fight with your brother.") After a lot of discussions, we decided to get one. It has an electric start, and a speed governor so he won't go very fast. We decided to surprise the boys get their reaction on camera!

They knew there was a surprise, but not what it was.
